A Haiti relief charity single featuring a glittering cast of music stars has gone straight to number one in the music download charts on the day of its release in the shops in the UK.
The single is a cover of the 1993 REM hit Everybody Hurts and features 21 stars including Leona Lewis, Jon Bon Jovi, JLS and sees Robbie Williams reunite with his Take That bandmates.
'For me personally I wanted to go out there and help the kids,' singer Alexandra Burke said speaking on Sky News.
'We can all put a little something in because it really does help.'
REM are waiving royalty rights to the charity track, while the Government has said that there will be no VAT cut.
All money from the single will be equally split between the Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun's Helping Haiti campaign.
Music mogul Simon Cowell who put together the record for Haiti said: 'Right now this is an absolute priority for us all, the people of Haiti need as much help as we can give them as soon as possible.
'Every day the situation becomes more desperate'.
Up to 200,000 people are believed to have died as a result of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12, with hundreds of thousands more left injured and homeless.
