The youngest giant panda at the National Zoo in Washington has juts got a little older.

Tai Shan has celebrated his fourth birthday, but in panda years, he's now a teenager.

Tai Shan marked the day as most would, with a bit of birthday cake.

Unlike ours though, the cake was made out of ice, bamboo, shredded beets and beet juice.

Tai Shan was intrigued by the cake and panda fans were delighted to watch him paw at it gingerly before grabbing an apple from the top and munching happily on it.

He didn't seem to impressed with the rest of the cake, leaving it mostly intact.

Tai Shan was born at the Zoo in 2005, and his birth was shown live online.
