Australia today will honour Dame Elisabeth Murdoch; treasured saint', guardian angel and, quite simply, a wonderful mother.
Dame Elisabeth died aged 103 at her beloved Langwarrin garden estate in Melbourne's outer south-east on December 5, surrounded by her family.
She will be remembered at a State memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne's central business district at 11 o'clock this morning (AEDT).
Her son, billionaire media baron Rupert Murdoch, has arrived in Melbourne.
The memorial service is expected to be packed, with representatives from the many charities and arts organisations Dame Elisabeth supported.
The service will be broadcast on screens at Federation Square.
