A man's been charged with the serious assault of a taxi driver after an argument over a fare in Sydney's east.
Police allege the cabbie picked up a male passenger from Campbell Parade, in Bondi, early on Saturday, before driving him a short distance to Rowland Avenue.
Police say an argument then broke out over the fare, before the man assaulted the driver and fled.
The 57-year-old driver suffered head and facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital.
A 28-year-old man was arrested at a Bondi home yesterday morning and charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm, possessing a prohibited drug, and contravening an apprehended violence order.
He was refused bail and will appear in Waverley Local Court later today.
