Another 30 asylum seekers have been transferred to Nauru for offshore processing.

The 17 Afghans and 13 Sri Lankans are the seventh group to be sent to the island under Labor's offshore processing regime, bringing the total number on Nauru to more than 200.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) said the group left Christmas Island on Monday night and arrived on Nauru at 8.15am AEDT on Tuesday.

'The completion of this transfer reaffirms the federal government's strong message of deterrence for anyone considering risking their lives on dangerous people smuggling boats,' DIAC said in a statement.

'There will be no advantage for boat arrivals.'
