A teenager is facing charges under Skye's Law after a pursuit in Sydney's west.

The 17-year-old male was spotted by police allegedly riding an unregistered trail bike along Carpenter Street at St Marys yesterday afternoon.

He allegedly ignored a police signal to stop, did a U-turn, and sped away.

He was pursued before he allegedly rode the bike into the car park of a unit block, before being chased down during a foot pursuit.

The dumped bike was later found abandoned; it had allegedly been stolen from the local area.

The teen is charged with fail to stop police pursuit (Skye's Law), and goods in custody.

He's been refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Children's Court today.
