The Nauruan president says he's moved by Immigration Minister Chris Bowen's visit to his tiny nation because it shows Australia's commitment to the special relationship between the two countries.
Mr Bowen touched down in Nauru this afternoon for his first visit since Labor announced it would reopen the asylum seeker processing centre there.
He was taken on a drive around the island before meeting with President Sprent Dabwido and cabinet ministers.
Mr Bowen will inspect the processing centre and the local hospital today before departing for Papua New Guinea.
