Police in Sydney have been kept busy following the Canterbury Bulldogs loss in the Rugby League Grand Final.

A small riot broke out just minutes before the final siren, as rowdy Bulldogs supporters clashed with officers.

All up, there were five arrests made outside the Canterbury headquarters, with charges laid including police assault and affray.

Despite fears of racial tension following last month's Sydney riots, police praised the behaviour of fans.
