A mini tornado has ripped through the town of Kaitaia in New Zealand's North Island.
Several families in the northland town spent the night in alternative accommodation after the roofs of their houses were lifted by the high winds.
More than 20 houses were affected.
The tornado struck early on Saturday afternoon and also seriously damaged the town's hospital.
The Fire Service says that repairs to the damaged buildings may take weeks to complete.
