Jurgen Melzer and Alexandr Dolgopolov each won on Friday to set up a Valencia Open tennis semi-final.
Melzer, who has not dropped a set at the tournament, beat David Goffin of Belgium 7-6 (9-7) 6-4. The Austrian overcame a poor first serve including seven double-faults.
Dolgopolov defeated defending champion Marcel Granollers 6-0 6-2. The Ukrainian was perfect on his first serve in the first set.
In the other quarter-finals, top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer will face sixth-seeded countryman Nicolas Almagro, while No.7 seed Marin Cilic will take on Ivan Dodig in an all-Croatian encounter.
