Melbourne's number one and two national draft picks Tom Scully and Jack Trengove say they are looking forward to officially starting their AFL careers next week.

Victorian midfielder Scully was taken at number one in last night's draft, with South Australian Trengove the Dees' next pick.

The teenagers say they are looking forward to beginning training with Melbourne next Tuesday and helping the wooden spooners to a better finish next season.

Former St Kilda skipper Luke Ball is among six players with AFL experience to find new clubs in the draft.

Ball received his wish to join Collingwood, while another former Saint Matt Maguire has been picked up by Brisbane.
