Australia's unemployment rate is expected to have risen in September, confirming fears the job market has weakened in recent months.
AAP's survey of 17 economists shows a median forecast for unemployment to rise to 5.2 per cent - from 5.1 per cent in August.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics is due to release monthly labour force data.
AAP's survey also predicts total employment to grow by just five thousand - not enough to keep up with population growth.
Australia's unemployment rate has remained between 5.0 and 5.3 per cent for the past year.
