Kevin Rudd's return to the prime ministership is about as likely as Black Caviar turning up at the Tamworth races, independent MP Tony Windsor says.
Asked on Sunday whether any of Mr Rudd's supporters had approached him to talk about a possible change in the Labor leadership, Mr Windsor told Network Ten: 'No.
'And I don't think there are a lot of them.
'If there are a lot of them in the building they're very wary of me because I haven't had one come to me.'
Mr Windsor said if Labor did change leaders 'all bets would be off' when it came to his continuing support for the minority Labor government.
But he said he doubted any contenders would be silly enough to launch a challenge given the tight numbers in parliament.
'I think it's a highly risky strategy.
'I think you've got as much chance of seeing Kevin Rudd as prime minister as Black Caviar on the racecourse at Tamworth where I am now,' referring to the unbeaten sprinter.
'It's just not going to happen.'
