The fourteenth Wife Carrying World Championships have been held, in the remote village of Sonkajarvi, in central Finland.
Participating couples made their way along 250m track, tackling a pool and several hurdles, with husbands carrying their wives on their backs.
This year 35 couples participated, coming from as far away as the United States, Japan, Australia and Canada,
This year a Finnish couple won the race.
The prize is the weight of the carried wife, in beer.
'This is the grandma of all the crazy happenings and events in Finland, so this is the oldest and one of the most funny, and still we have a mission. I think people like that mission to build and share happiness, more joy for the world,' Veikko Tervonen, the Chairman of the Wife Carrying World Championships said.
