A dust haze is blanketing Sydney and western NSW.
The Bureau of Meteorology insisted on Sunday morning it was not a dust storm, just 'dust'.
The haze extends from Sydney to the state's north west as far as Walgett.
'We should see improvement in the afternoon,' Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Peter Zmijewski said on Sunday.
The weather bureau says winds have carried the dust from central Australia.
