A jury's been told a Melbourne man has had his finger chopped off before being shot in the back of the head over a debt.
The Victorian Supreme Court also heard Hoang Thanh Lee, the man accused of executing Son Van Duong in 2006, left Melbourne for Vietnam the next day.
Mr Duong's body was found in a paddock at Truganina.
Lee is on trial after pleading not guilty to Mr Duong's murder and was returned to Melbourne last year to face prosecution over the killing.
The trial is continuing.
