The federal government's proposed four billion dollar dental care plan now awaits Senate approval after draft laws passed the lower house.

The government's six-year program aimed at kids and disadvantaged adults previously had been opposed by the coalition, which was reluctant to have the Howard government chronic disease dental scheme replaced.

But Coalition MPs later conceded they won't object to the legislation, leading to its easy passage through the lower house today.
