Pressure for a review of Australia's Goods and Services tax (GST) is growing, despite both sides of Government rejecting the idea.
Among those advocating such measures are CPA Australia, the International Monetary Fund, the Business Council of Australia, the Australian Chamber of Commerce Industry, Independent Federal MP, Tony Windsor, and former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke.
The majority is calling for a widening of the base or a lifting of the current rate of 10 percent.
Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, and Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, have previously shut down any plans for a review.
