Petrol prices to be investigated

Australia's peak motoring body is demanding the Petrol Commissioner investigate the sudden fluctuations in pump prices.

The NRMA says Joe Demasi should also be given increased powers to police prices.

A week ago the cost of unleaded petrol was hovering at around $1.30 a litre in some states.

It's taken a drastic fall this week, but is expected to climb again by the weekend.
