The opening of Australia's first solar panel plant busts two big myths, says Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
The plant showed that something could be done in the face of climate change and the country can compete in the manufacturing industry, she said on Friday.
The prime minister was formally opening Tindo Solar in Adelaide, which can meet the solar panel needs of 15 to 20 per cent of Australia.
Set up by three local businessmen, the plant employs 12 people but plans to expand to up to 100 workers within three years.
