The big freeze is continuing to claim lives in Europe with the continent now into its twelfth day of bitterly cold temperatures.

In Italy firefighters have braved the freezing conditions to rescue several people from their homes.

At least 30 people have frozen to death in Italy alone.

Temperatures in some parts of Europe have dropped 'as low as minus 36 degrees'.

Shipping in Bulgaria. Croatia. Romania and Serbia has been suspended because of ice covering 'water channels' between the nations.
