Queensland's volunteer wildlife carers are burning out as they struggle to cope with tens of thousands of injured animals.

The RSPCA says more than 20-thousand injured and sick animals have needed the care of southeast Queensland's wildlife hospitals and volunteer carers in the past year.

RSPCA wildlife coordinator Janet Gamble says many more than that are cared for statewide and carers are feeling the pressure.

She says they need more people to help.
