Dido has insisted her son Stanley is not named after the Eminem song which she appeared on.
The 'No Freedom' singer was featured on the US rapper's single, 'Stan' - a fictional tale about an unstable fan of his rap alter ego Slim Shady - which helped launch her career in 2001, but she says it is purely coincidence her son with husband Rohan Gavin has the same name.
She said: 'I named my son Stanley because it's always been my favourite name, but it has nothing to do with the Stan of the Eminem song. Strangely enough it was also my husband's favourite name, so we just agreed. Expecting a girl would have probably caused a mess'.
Dido's new album, 'Girl Who Got Away' is her first in four years after taking time off to care for Stanley and she said he has influenced her new record.
She added to Italian newspaper La Stampa: 'I see things in a different way now, with new eyes ... Everything is exciting and concentrating on someone else makes you stop worrying about yourself: it's liberating.'
'Girl Who Got Away' is released in March, preceded by single 'No Freedom'.
