The Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) has launched Australia's first streaming chart.
The ARIA Streaming Tracks Chart will rank the most popular songs listened to via digital music services Spotify, JB Hi-Fi Now and Samsung Music Hub.
Further streaming providers will be incorporated into the chart in the coming months, a statement from the industry body confirmed.
The chart, which records songs streamed from Friday to Thursday, will be available from 6pm every Sunday.
ARIA Chairman Denis Handlin says the latest monitor of music tastes reflects a shift in the way music is consumed.
'The introduction of a number of music streaming services into the local market over the past year has provided Australian music fans with access to great music through a legitimate platform, that also ensures artists, writers and labels are rewarded for their creative work,' Handlin said.
'The Streaming Tracks Chart is an exciting addition to the ARIA charts family and a genuine reflection of the ever-expanding digital music landscape in Australia.'
Macklemore Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz recorded the inaugural No.1 with their song Thrift Shop, mirroring a second consecutive week on top of the ARIA singles chart.
